The Eternal Sufi in the Sun

This illustration was inspired by my experiences with trancendental dancing in the morning Sun, especially during the winter months of this year.

The Eternal Sufi is a concept, an archetype, a state of mind - to be eternally present for your practice everyday.

I wanted to create a design that conveys a spiritual simplicity - man, land, sun, sky.

The Sun as the only point of orientation/focus in a meditative state. And its lovely warmth absorbed through our skin. Pointing towards our direct relationship to the it - an an entity.

We have so many negative connotations towards sun exposure (absorbed through our society) , so I felt it necessary to depict these experiences - especially in an archetypal way that is connected to my Sudanese heritage.
