An Unexpected Audience

January 2020

I got to do quite a lot of experimentation using gradients, blurs and blending modes to achieve this magical effect I was after - a sense of magic in the air, and a lively glow eminating from the subjects.

The central subject is a Sudanese folk musician playing the Oud, with his eyes closed and singing - deep into his trance.

A group of interdimensional creatures (some type of fae) appear out of the edges and listen in.

It is a sort of play on the classical depiction of the Greek God Pan playing his flute in a meadow.

The major themes I set out to explore were - the performance, the performer, the audience and attention.
